Celebrating a month long showcase of independent films from around the world Reel Worldwide Underground Link (RWUL) will be hosting: “Passport to a New World of Cinema: Global Lens 2010” weekend film series program from February 27, 2010 to March 26, 2010 at the Letelier Theater in Washington, DC.

The Global Lens 2010 film series is a collection of films from around the world developed by the Global Film Initiative, a non-profit film organization that promotes cross-cultural understanding through the medium of film.  The “Passport to a New World of Cinema” is a month long weekend program in which the films from the Global Lens 2010 will be screened for public viewing.  The program will also include educational components, feature guest speakers, and receptions where discussion around the films will take place.

Located in the heart of the Georgetown, the Letelier Theater is dedicated to the vision and ideals of former Chilean ambassador Orlando Letelier as a place to engage moral and artistic imagination in the nation’s capital. 2010 marks the seventh year of Global Lens’ annual festival but the first year the entire series will be screening in Washington, DC. Recently premiered at New York’s MOMA, Letelier theater is pleased to offer Global Lens 2010’s roster of films to spark curiosity and conversation about different lands, peoples and ways of life. Weekend passes are available for $14; single screening tickets are $8. Tickets are available in advance at www.RWUL.com or at the door, space permitting.
