Hamid Kherief is a naturalized U.S. citizen who now lives in Manhattan, New York.
Born and raised in Bordj Bou Arreridj, a city half-way between Algiers and Constantine. Hamid Kherief is the president of the Algerian-American National Association , an organization in which he has been active since its inception in 1989. His main objective is to continue to promote the Algerian culture in all its aspects and rich diversity in the US, thereby strengthening a better understanding of Algeria and fostering bonds of friendship between the two peoples. Among the major events in which he was instrumental, one can cite the first Algerian music concert at the United Nations, a one -week showcase of Algerian Arts and Crafts in New York, which brought about 50 artists and artisans from Algeria as well as the astoundingly successful US premiere of the Algerian National Ballet.

Currently, Hamid Kherief is involved in planning and publicizing “Sahra”, a mega-concert to be held in the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on November 21st and starring Khaled along with other pop artists and over a hundred musicians from the Middle East and North Africa.

It is worth mentioning that 100% of the profits this event will generate will be donated to children’s charitable organizations in the Middle East and North Africa.

Serving the Algerian community in the U.S. by organizing events, providing free translations and guidance for educational opportunities and raising funds for organizations in Algeria or Algerians in need in the US has been a constant concern of his. Hamid believes that one may not be able to change the world, but one may change a few things that will make the world a little better for a few people.
